PYROTECHNIC SIGNALS

Pyrotechnic signals are manufactured in accordance with SOLAS, IDS, IMO and other related regulations for survival at sea. Are allow to establish the location of vessels, boats or life rafts in emergency from great distances at sea. They can be for day or night use depending on their characteristics of luminosity or emission of orange smoke.

We offer duly certified pyrotechnic signals according to your needs. There are SOLAS/IDS and NOT SOLAS.

SOLAS/ IDS pyrotechnic signals

SOLAS/LSA parachute flare rocket

Flares are used to signal an emergency over a long distance. They can be used as a night or day signal. Once fired, it will launch a rocket 300 meters high, it will ignite a light of 30,000 candles for 40 seconds, which will fall slowly with a parachute. Its complete characteristics are regulated by the International Rescue Devices (IDS) code, chapter II, 3.1.

According to SOLAS chapter III, rule 6, 3 every ship must carry 12 rocket launchers with parachutes on the bridge, for smaller ships there may be variations according to the specific requirements of the flag. Likewise, 4 units are mandatory for use in all liferafts, SOLAS/IDS lifeboats and emergency packages.

SOLAS/ LSA Handheldflares

They are used to signal an emergency at a short distance, they can be used as night or day signals. Once activated, they will emit a 15,000 cd red light. during a minute. Its complete characteristics are regulated by the International Rescue Devices (IDS) code, chapter II, 3.2.

6 units are mandatory in every liferaft, SOLAS/IDS lifeboat and emergency packages; for smaller ships there may be variations according to specific requirements of the flag.

SOLAS/ LSA floating smoke signals

They are used to signal an emergency. To be used as a daytime signal, it must be activated and thrown into the water, where it will emit orange smoke for 3 minutes. Its complete characteristics are regulated by the International Code of Rescue Devices (IDS), chapter II, 3.3.

Two units are mandatory in all life rafts, SOLAS/IDS lifeboats and emergency packages. For smaller vessels there may be variations according to specific flag requirements.

SOLAS/ LSA MOV, light and smoke signal

These types of signals are used to launch in case a man falls into the water along with a lifebuoy and can be tracked. Likewise, so that the man who falls into the water can float safely until he is rescued.

In addition, according to SOLAS chapter III, rule 7.1.3, every ship must carry 2 automatically functioning smoke signals on the bridge, which when launched into the water with a lifebuoy will automatically emit orange smoke for 15 minutes. On the other hand, the same chapter requires that half of the rings on board carry automatically activated lights, which is why it is common to use mixed SOLAS/IDS light and smoke signals on ship bridges. For smaller ships there may be variations according to the specific requirements of the flag.

Its complete characteristics are regulated by the International Rescue Devices (IDS) code, chapter II, 2.1.3.

Line thrower or SOLAS/ LSA line throwing devices

They are used to accurately drop lines at a distance of 230m. According to SOLAS chapter III, rule 18, every ship must carry 4 line-throwing devices, capable of throwing a line with acceptable precision at a distance of 230 m. Its complete characteristics are regulated by the International Rescue Devices (IDS) code, chapter VII, 7.1.

NOT SOLAS signs

There are different uses according to needs, the most common are signal guns with their respective cartridges, hand smoke signals, signal launchers and others.
