Personal flotation aids are the first survival elements to be used in an emergency at sea, they are an important part of the immediate flotation phase. They are manufactured according to the type of use required. They can be SOLAS/LSA, ISO 12402, UL or other regulation approved for specific type of use. Life vests are divided into SOLAS/LSA and NON SOLAS, the latter according to EN ISO 12402 or UL regulations.

SOLAS/LSA Life Vests:
Main equipment for immediate flotation in case of an accident that requires the abandonment of a vessel offshore. They can be used in calm waters, in choppy waters and in bad weather. According to SOLAS regulation, CHAPTER III, RULE 7.2 they are mandatory in the quantity of one per crew member or passenger on board any vessel. Their features are stated in the INTERNATIONAL LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCE CODE (LSA Code), CHAPTER II, 2.2.1 y 2.2.2
SOLAS/LSA Life Buoy Rings:
Main equipment for immediate flotation in case of an accident that requires the abandonment of a vessel offshore or to be thrown to a man overboard. They are mandatory in all vessels. SOLAS regulation CHAPTER III, RULE 7.1, its features are given by the INTERNATIONAL LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCE CODE (LSA Code), CHAPTER II, 2.1.1.
Equipment that works together with flotation aids
SOLAS/LSA Rescue Lights:
According to SOLAS CHAPTER III, Rule 22, 3.1, Rule 27, 5.2, Rule 32, 2.2 they are mandatory in every SOLAS/LSA life vests, the features they must meet are given by the INTERNATIONAL LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCE CODE (LSA Code), CHAPTER II, 2.2.1.13., although it is advisable to use it on any vest that is worn at night. These will allow the easy location of a person in an emergency at sea, its features are given by the LSA code CHAPTER II 2.2.3. We can offer you the ones for regular use and the intrinsically safe ones for use in vessels at dangerous environments, we also offer those with automatic activation on contact with water or manual ones.
SOLAS/LSA Automatic Ignition Light Guiding:
According to SOLAS III rule 7.1.1.3 these are mandatory for half of the SOLAS/LSA life buoy rings on board any vessel; their features are given in the LSA code CHAPTER II, 2.1.3. They allow the fast location of a man in the water that was thrown a life ring. We can offer you the ones for regular use or the intrinsically safe ones for use in vessels at dangerous environments.
SOLAS/LSA Floating Rescue Lines:
According to SOLAS III rule 7.1.1.2, they are of mandatory for at least one SOLAS/LSA life ring on each side of a vessel; their features are given by the LSA code CHAPTER II, 2.1.4. They allow the fast rescue of a man in the water that was thrown a life ring.
